In-Car Entertainment Systems
Project description
The Institute for Applied Informatics (InfAI) is developing a rear seat entertainment system based on Android for several automobile manufacturers. A tablet is used as hardware, which is produced by the client to meet the Automotive Grade Quality Standards. The tablet is fully integrated into the vehicle and uses an Android operating system. On the one hand, this provides the necessary interfaces to the vehicle, on the other hand, it works as a full-featured tablet.
On this hardware, the InfAI based several apps that combine both information and entertainment and make them available on the go. These include e.g. the control and display of the navigation data and the presentation of current vehicle contents. Furthermore, the media in the vehicle can be controlled from the tablet, e.g. the streaming of media content from the radio to the tablet and back again.
