The department of Databases focuses on different topics in the area of data quality, data integration and data management, graph based analysis and integration as well as privacy maintaining linkage and analysis. Databases concentrates on the support of processing huge data volumes (Big Data). In cooperation with other strong partners, the department works on big data solutions in different scientific and economic application areas as part of the Competence Center for Scalable Data Services and Solutions Dresden/Leipzig (ScaDS Dresden/Leipzig) (www.scads.de).

Goals of the research department

• Development of methods for data integration, e.g. duplicate recognition, record linkage, clustering, fusion
• Development of methods for graph based integration and analysis for business intelligence (Big Graph Data)
• Development of methods for privacy maintaining linkage and linkage of data (e.g. Privacy Preserving Record Linkage)
